I have nearly 300 posts on my blog at this point, so narrowing it down was pretty tough. Still, I think that my favorite post is the one that I wrote on step-parenting. As a child, I grew up with step-parents. As an adult, I am an acting step-parent. I’ve experienced a lot and I’ve learned from all of it.

Have I always been able to take the advice that I provided in the article? No, but I have closely followed it on most occasions. The few times that I stepped out of line were miniscule events that I slipped up and said something without thinking…and although it needed to be said by SOMEONE, I probably should not have been the person to say it and I did apologize for doing so immediately afterward.

The thing is, the role of the step-parent is a tough one and I think what I like best about that post is that it lays a lot of that on the line for those who are looking for answers on how to approach and deal with these new responsibilities. Will these tips be right for everyone? No, but the work for me and my family and I hope that they can help others as well.
