Keeping School Shopping Cheap with Coupons

As the summer progresses and the back to school preparations get underway, it’s time to start thinking about how to make the most of your back to school shopping budget.  Depending on what grade your child is going into, and whether or not their school has issued a list of required equipment and supplies, this can add up to quite a substantial amount of money.  With a little bit of planning however it is possible to save money on school supplies and still get everything that your child needs.

Coupons can be your new best friend!  Even if you don’t usually cut out coupons that appear in the mailbox, this could be a good time to start.  Many office supply stores offer coupons for cheap school supplies that can help your budget go a lot further.

Look out for discount school supplies advertisements.  These could be offered from arts and crafts stores, and department stores as well as office suppliers.  Many of the big chain stores offer cheap school supplies at this time of year so make sure you carry a list of what your child needs in your purse, and cross each item off as you buy it.

Another way to save money on your back to school shopping is to look out for multi-buy items.  Your child may not need 12 pencils or 6 erasers, but you can make huge savings by getting together with another mom and sharing the multi-buy packs.  Add discount coupons to these multi-buy savings and you should find that your budget goes much further than you had originally thought it would.

The easiest way to ensure that you save money on school supplies is to make sure that you don’t leave it to the last minute.  Although it is possible to pick up a few bargains, these aren’t guaranteed.  Get the most for your budget by identifying what your child needs, and buying them throughout the summer as coupons and discount prices on these items appear.
