Still in Need of a Halloween Costume? Check out Costume Express!
As a member of The Pitch List, I recently had the opportunity to review a costume from Costume Express. For me, this was perfect timing because my little boy hit a growth spurt and the Buzz Lightyear costume that I chose for him from another company is now pretty tight. This time I opted to choose the Deluxe Buzz Lightyear Costume, which actually turned out to be much more authentic looking.
This costume has a foam chest, which bows out just like Buzz’s chest! It also has these two little lower leg covers that slip on and up over each knee to make the legs of the costume look more like Buzz’s legs. My son really thought that he looked cool in this costume and I was happy that he had plenty of room to move around in it, too!
The costume goes on quite easily, except for the portion that covers the head. We had a little bit of trouble there when my son tried to do it himself. I was trying to figure out what the leg covers were when he did that and it stretched it so much that he ripped a little hole in the top of it. No biggie. It’s easy to mend with a needle and thread. However, even when I tried to help him get that part of the costume on, it was very difficult.
As you can see in the image to the left, the arms are just a little bit long, but the legs are just perfect! My son’s only complaint is the head piece that is attached to the costume. Yes, the part that got ripped a little that I discussed above. It is supposed to hold his hair back, but he didn’t cooperate. In the image to the right, you can see that he’s trying to pull his little head out of there, but it’s attached to the costume. It looks like he’s being shy and he probably was because he didn’t want me taking his picture at first.
Too bad he wouldn’t hold still long enough for me to get a good shot of him running through the room with his little arms out, trying to “fall with style” like Buzz Lightyear does in the movie!
I would give this costume an 8.5 on a scale of 1-10, but I’m only deducting for the head piece because it’s difficult to get on and off – even when I tried to help him with it.
