A Review of the Ozeri Precision Digital Kitchen Scale

As a member of The Pitch List, I was recently given the opportunity to review the Precision Digital Kitchen Scale from Ozeri. I was very excited to review the item, as my old kitchen scale bit the dust years ago and I just never replaced it. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait!

I was instantly amazed at the stylish design. There’s something about sleek, shiny metal that just makes me smile. Here’s a little secret: one day, I’d like to have a completely stainless steel, commercial-style kitchen. I worked in a restaurant for 14 years of my life, so I guess I either miss it, or I’ve developed a fondness for the size and capability of commercial kitchens.

As you can see, this scale is comprised of a sleek stainless steel platform, which is supported by a durable plastic base with a digital screen. Because it is all digital, it’s a snap to use! There are two buttons: the on/off button and the Unit button. The on/off button does exactly what you would expect it to do, while the unit button allows you to weigh ingredients or food portions in your choice of pounds, ounces, grams or kilograms. I found this to be a wonderful feature!

I put it up against my mom’s scale to see how well it measured up and I have to say, mine is not only more attractive and a lot easier to use, but it is also a lot easier to read thanks to the large bright LCD screen. In fact, she was still trying to figure out what the weight showed on her scale 30 seconds after she had set the grapes on it!

The Ozeri Precision Digital Kitchen Scale features an oversized weighing platform, as you can see in my pictures. This makes it very easy to weigh portions right on the scale, but it’s also very nice to have a nice level surface to set containers on for liquids like sauces, syrups, dressings and more!

This scale is also remarkably light, has a large screen and is super-easy to use. In fact, one of my favorite features aside from the stainless steel finish was the fact that it only has two buttons. Call me simplistic, but I can barely manage my Blackberry, so I don’t need another gadget that I can’t figure out! This one wasn’t like that at all. The unit button and the on/off button were self explanatory and really made this scale top-notch in my book!

The precision of the weight is ensured by 4 high precision sensors. This makes the scale accurate from 0.1 oz to 11 lbs or from 1 gram to 5250 grams.

Overall, I have to say that I really do like this scale. From the sleek look to the ease of use, it has met all of my expectations and then some!
