Tasty Tuesday – Strawberry & Cream Cheese Filled French Toast

For this tasty Tuesday I am sharing a great recipe that can be used for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even an afternoon snack. This is a wonderful twist on French toast. It is simple and delicious!

Filled French Toast

  • Bread ( I use whole wheat)
  • Stuff for filling: this can be anything from jelly, jam, cream cheese, nutella, any nutty spread, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, any type of mix that sounds good to you. (For this one we used cream cheese and strawberry jam)
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • Maple syrup

To Make

Use a rolling pin to flatten out your bread. You can remove the crusts of the bread if you want, my kids hate crust for some reason, and so I typically just take it off. Next, take about a tablespoon of your filling and spread it on the bread, about an inch from the side in a strip. Our current favorite is strawberry jam with cream cheese, but peanut butter and nutella is a close second.

Once you have the filling in place roll up the bread. Whisk the milk and eggs together just like you would for regular French toast. Heat up some butter in a skillet. Take the rolls and soak them in the egg/milk mixture and then place in the warm skillet. Turn until brown on all sides. Take the hot rolls from the pan and roll them in cinnamon and sugar. Serve with maple syrup for dip.

This filled french toast is so easy to make and the taste is simply fabulous. The kids can even help!
