These posts are typically about cheap things to do with your kids. However, there is one thing that I think you have to do with your kids every summer even if it may get a little expensive. I am talking about taking your kids to a fair. For me, the fair screams summer. When I was a kid I would spend the entire week at our county fair. Horrible food, extreme heat, and smelly animals, these are my memories of going to the fair in the summer.
As mentioned in a post earlier this week I took my kids up to the fair that I grew up going to and despite my worries it was absolutely fabulous. I had forgotten how nice it is to live in a small town. All of the things that I hated about living there growing up I love now that I am an adult. I was able to let my kids buy bracelets for the rides and then simply go on their own. My oldest is eleven and my youngest is six. They were with a group of kids that included a seventeen year old so they were fine.
The boys had a fabulous time and they got to see a piece of my past and it was a lot of fun.
