Make it Monday

Do your kids love bubbles? Both of my boys love bubbles and the oldest one is 11! While the bubble solution that you can buy at the store is great, sometimes it is fun to make your own. The recipe is actually quite simple and it works just as well as the store bought stuff.

Homemade Bubble Solution

2/3 cup Dawn Dish Soap (blue works best)

1 gallon of water

2 ½ to 3 Tablespoons of glycerin (most pharmacies carry it and it is a bit pricey. However, it makes the best bubble solution. If you do not want to spend the money on glycerin use about a couple of tablespoons of sugar instead)

Mix all the ingredients and use with bubble wands.

One of our favorite bubble activities is to enclose ourselves inside a bubble. We found this trick at a Children’s Museum we visited and decided to mimic it at home. You will need a tub that is large enough to stand in and round enough for a hula hoop to fit inside. Fill the tub with your bubble mixture and have your child stand inside the hula hoop. You will need two people to lift the hula hoop out of the mixture and around the child inside. A huge bubble will form around your child and I guarantee they will love it!

Some other ideas for bubble wands include:

Cookie cutters

Pipe cleaners bent into different shapes

Yogurt lids with centers cut outbubbles

Straws
