Thrifty Thursday – Crockpot Pizza

It is Thursday again and you know what that means! It is time for another cheap dinner idea for your family. This week I thought I would share one of my favorite crock pot meals. I love my crockpot as it is perfect for those busy nights when you want a hot dinner ready for the little time that you have between practices and other activities. This recipe is easy and the kids will love it!

Crockpot Pizza

Ingredients:crockpot pizza

1 package egg noodles

1 pound ground beef or turkey or sausage

¼ cup chopped red onion

1 26 oz. jar of spaghetti sauce

2 cups fresh mushrooms washed and chopped

1 ½ tsp Italian seasoning

1 package pepperoni

3 cups mozzarella cheese

3 cups cheddar cheese

Cook the noodles according to the direction. In a skillet cook the onion with the beef until cooked through. Stir in the spaghetti sauce, Italian seasoning, and mushrooms. Drain noodles.

Coat your crockpot with cooking spray and add about a third of the meat sauce. Cover with the noodles and pepperoni and sprinkle cheese over it. Repeat the layers a total of three times. Cover and cook for three or four hours on low.

One of the great things about this recipe is that you can add all of your favorite pizza toppings. I tend to leave out the meat and load the recipe up with vegetables such as zucchini, peppers, and I have even used potatoes. Spinach works well too!
