My son is a huge fan of cheese sticks. Seriously, the child could eat them every meal if I’d let him. But I always question what’s in the mozzarella sticks available in stores. Some of the ingredients make me cringe. That said, I felt it would be so much healthier to make them at home. I admit that I had a few disasters along the way, but I’m proud to say that I have finally mastered the art of mozzarella stick making with this Applebee’s copycat recipe.
Applebee’s Mozzarella Sticks Copycat Recipe
- 1 – 16oz block of Mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. freshly chopped parsley leaves
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- Vegetable Oil for frying
Preheat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a shallow dish, mix Italian bread crumbs, parmesan, parsley, salt and pepper.
Beat 2 eggs into a shallow bowl.
Slice Mozzarella into 1/2 inch slices.
Dredge Mozzarella sticks in egg, roll in bread crumb mixture, dredge in egg mixture again and roll in bread crumb mixture. Place in heated oil and cook for about 3 minutes or until a nice golden brown.
