Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean ReviewHow Quiet is Your Vacuum? Meet the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean

One of the biggest complaints that most people have with vacuums is the suction, but a close second for me is the extreme loudness. In fact, I didn’t realize how much I hated the sound of a vacuum cleaner until my son was born. About a week later, I tried vacuuming my living room and my son was scared to death. His fear of the vacuum lasted for 2 years and I hated every second of it. I felt like a horrible mom because I couldn’t hold him to let him know he was safe while I vacuumed. For that reason, I wish I would have been able to find a quiet vacuum years ago.

The Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum boasts remarkably quiet operation, as well as powerful suction and a totally sealed HEPA filtration system that captures and contains 99.97% of dust and debris to keep it from being released back into the air. Does this vacuum live up to everything it claims to be? Keep reading to find out.

My review of the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum

I have to admit, I was very excited to review this vacuum, so I waited in anticipation for it to arrive. A vacuum – that’s quiet? Quiet and actually has suction? Wow! Once it finally showed up on my doorstep, I immediately started taking pictures so that I could remove it from the box. Surprisingly, I think my son was more excited about it than I was though, because he absolutely demanded that he be in the pictures with it! As you can see, this is a canister vacuum. I’ve used canister vacuums before, but I’ve never owned one. I’ve also never owned a bagged vacuum cleaner, but we’ve went through at least 8 bagless vacuum cleaners in the past 14 years, so we were ready to give a bagged vacuum a try.

The first thing I noticed was how small the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean vacuum was. It seemed so little compared to my last vacuum, which was a Hoover Windtunnel. At 13.4 lbs, this Electrolux vacuum was a whole lot lighter!  Our Windtunnel had lost suction a few months after we got it. In its defense, we did pick it up at an auction, so it was used. However, even after taking it apart and cleaning out the tubing to ensure there were no clogs, we still had very little suction. We had experienced the same issues with 7That was our final straw with bagless vacuums. We both agreed that we’d give a bagged vacuum a try.

Here’s what came in the box – minus the little boy 😉

Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum Specs

This vacuum boasts a great deal of power and has several beneficial features. Check out the spec sheet below for a more comprehensive listing of all that the Electrolux UltraSilencer has to offer. However, there are a few really cool features that the spec sheet doesn’t really cover as well as I’d like, so I want to highlight those first…yes, because they’re my favorite features.

  1. The UltraSilencer has a retractable cord. No more fussing with trying to roll that cord around two little hooks on the back of your vacuum, only to have it slip off in a jumbled mess.
  2. It has a digital display that allows you to see the suction level (there are 5 levels of suction on this baby!). The digital display also alerts you to issues, such as when the vacuum bag is full and when to replace the filter.
  3. The DeepClean Power Brush is a BEAST! Although it’s termed as a brush, I think “powerhouse” is a more appropriate term for it. This thing really goes to work on carpets!
  4. You can control all of the major functions of the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean from the handle of the hose with the fingertip controls. With the touch of a button, you can instantly increase or decrease the suction level, turn the vacuum on or off, turn the power brush on or off. Awesome!
  5. The vacuum is light and easily maneuverable thanks to the swivel front wheel and swivel hose. Obstacles are no longer an issue and suction isn’t sacrificed.

Using the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum

There are three things that I really, really want to highlight in this review and the first is the sound. NEVER have I EVER used a vacuum that was so remarkably quiet. I know it probably sounds funny, but I actually called my hubby to make him listen to it while I talked to him on the phone and even he was amazed. The second thing I want to highlight is the suction. The Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean vacuum might be small, but it packs POWERFUL suction! Finally, I want to highlight the filtration system. The totally closed HEPA filtration system on this vacuum is, by far, better than the filtration on any other vacuum I’ve ever used. I’ll expand more on each of these highlights below.

Sound LevelElectrolux UltraSilencer Vacuum

As I mentioned above, the sound level of the Electrolux UltraSilencer is so quiet that it will make your jaw drop. Seriously. It’s THAT quiet. If I had to compare it to something, I think the closest thing would be the sound of an oscillating fan. Now, to clarify, the sound level does increase when using the Power Brush; however, even then it is nowhere near as loud as any other vacuum I’ve ever used.

I filmed a short video, but it’s not wanting to upload to YouTube for me. If I can get it to upload in the next few days, I’ll embed it here so that you can hear how quiet it is.  In the video, you can literally hear this vacuum in action and hear me and my son talking clearly while this vacuum is running. I was holding my phone in one hand and using the other to maneuver the hose of the vacuum. Yes, folks, one handed operation! WOW!

Suction Power

With five different levels of suction to choose from, you can easily use it to suck the dirt off of just about anything! I used the lowest suction level to suck the dust from around my computer tower and off of the venting area and had no problems at all. I used the third level for cleaning up the cobwebs that had cropped up in the corners of the ceiling in my hallway and I used the fifth level for cleaning my floors. I’m very happy with the ability to change the level of suction, as I’ve never had that option on any other vacuum that I’ve owned. It opens up so many new cleaning possibilities, such as cleaning drapery that would otherwise be sucked into the vacuum.

Electrolux UltraSilencer - View of Bag CompartmentHEPA Filtration

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve went to vacuum and when I was done, I needed to vacuum the vacuum! I didn’t have that problem at all with the UltraSilencer and that speaks volumes for this machine’s filtration. In fact, I typically dust after I vacuum simply because vacuuming stirs up so much dust. I haven’t yet tried to dust before vacuuming since I’ve been using this, but I sure plan to try it out and see if I have to dust again afterwards!

The attachments are also very handy and I’ve already used three of the four that came with this Electrolux vacuum. I used the PowerBrush for my carpet, the bare floor brush for my hardwood floors and the dusting brush for cleaning the cobwebs from around my ceilings. I was going to try out the crevice tool as well, but I used the dusting brush around the area that I would normally use the crevice tool in and it worked just fine, so I didn’t make the switch. I’m sure I’ll get around to it eventually though – especially when I get to cleaning under and behind my entertainment center. That tool will be my best friend for spaces like that.

The Cons of the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Vacuum

As much as I like this vacuum, it does have a few cons. It pains me to say it, but as much as I love the fingertip controls, they can be a pain in the behind, too. For instance, while I was cleaning the cobwebs from the corners of the ceiling, I kept hitting the buttons on the wand and accidentally turning the vacuum’s suction down, and I even accidentally turned it off once. Thankfully, it’s not that hard to push the button to turn it back to the setting I had or turn it back on.

In addition, I found the Power Brush easy to attach, but a bit difficult to detach. Once I was able to get it off though, I was able to use the other attachments with ease. The retractable cord is one feature I love, but unless you pull it out all the way when you first use it, it doesn’t easily accommodate you as you move through the house. For me, that’s not a deal-breaker because I was used to unraveling the cord of my old vacuum as I moved through the house anyway, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Where Can I Buy an Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Vacuum?

The Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum can be purchased at a variety of both brick and mortar and online retailers nationwide, including Allergy Buyer’s Club. The average price point for this particular model is $499.99, but special sales and coupons may be found to discount the price.

My Overall Opinion of the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum

Overall, I have to give the Electrolux UltraSilencer DeepClean Canister Vacuum a rating of 9.5 out of 10 stars. It meets or exceeds every statement I’ve seen in its marketing, which I find impressive. It also offers the ability to clean a wide array of surfaces. From thick, heavy weight carpets to thinner, low-pile carpets the Power Brush cleans them with ease. You’ll also find that it easily tackles hardwood floors, linoleum, tile, drapery, ceilings and upholstery. I’m very pleased with the overall operation, the amazingly quiet sound, the filtration and the adjustable suction. It’s rare to find such a workhorse in such a small, lightweight vacuum.

The Electrolux is, at the very least, comparable to what you can expect in terms of quality in higher cost models of vacuums. However, I personally feel that it may exceed some of the similarly priced vacuums in its class simply because of its versatility and quiet operation. After researching the average length of time that Electrolux owners have had and used their vacuums, I’m confident that this vacuum offers great value for its price. I would highly recommend it to anyone that’s looking for a versatile vacuum that can get the job done quietly, no matter how big or small.
