Free Family Fun

Families that play together build strong bonds. Don’t make the mistake I made in my early days of being a wife and mom. I was driven to do everything possible to make sure that we could get out of debt, and that meant working at home all the time to earn and save money. It stressed out my family and if I had continued down that path, my kids and husband would have resented me. Don’t let money get in the way of enjoying your family and growing great relationships with your children. Here are free ways to have some family fun:

Free Children’s Museum Days

Check your local children’s museum to see when they offer free admission. Companies will sponsor free days once a month and it’s a great way for your younger ones to have fun for free. Most museums offer water play as well as other fun interactive activities for children as young as 2 years old.

Free Summer Festivals

Don’t miss out on summer festivals sponsored by organizations and businesses in the summertime. Your kids can enjoy floatables, pony rides, rock climbing walls and play with other kids. There’s always the temptation to purchase from the vendors, and if you can support your local vendors, you should. However, if you cannot afford it, restrict yourself to the free activities only.

Free Park Days

Running around the park, racing down slides, and playing on the swings are great ways to enjoy family fun and get exercise. Even your older kids will enjoy quality time spent with you in the outdoors. Plan to go once a week to give your children something to look forward to. Have a picnic at a park bench while you’re there. Bring a ball or two to play kickball or catch.

Take advantage of these free family fun activities while you can. They may not be available to you due to cold weather, or the sponsorships for festivals and museum days may dry up.
