Have you ever wanted or needed to live on less? Lemons and Lavender can help!
I was recently given the opportunity to review a book that was right up my alley – Lemons and Lavender, by author Billee Sharp. As you can see on the cover, it states that this book is “the eco guide to better homekeeping.” I know lots of people that would shun this book simply for using the word “eco” on the cover. What do I have to say about that? Plain and simple; you don’t know what you’re missing.
What I loved about Lemons and Lavender
Being a thrifty mom, I love that Lemons and Lavender is chock full of fabulous tips and ideas that can help you to not only live a cheaper lifestyle, but also help you and your family reduce your carbon footprint. Whether you believe in being eco-friendly or not doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that by adopting even a small few of the methods in this book, you’ll reduce your out of pocket costs on such things as laundry, electricity and cleaning products. You’ll also be creating a safer, less chemical-filled environment for your family. For me, that’s all the reason I need to have a book like this on hand.
I might be a little biased, being a thrifty mom and all, but this book has opened my eyes to several new things that I can do to save money and has reminded me of a few things that I’ve forgotten or grown a bit lax on over the years. It has also introduced me to several things that I could do to bring more money into our household. Some of you might be thinking, “Boy, that seems like an awful lot for one book to deliver!” However, I promise you that it does.
What else did I learn? Well, I learned a few new herbal remedies that I was unaware of, along with some fabulous new recipes for home spa products, laundry detergent, cleaning products, wine and so much more! Sure, these recipes are fabulous to have for your own use, but imagine how much money you could save if you used these recipes to make into gifts for others as well! In fact, there are so many recipes, you could literally build an eco-friendly business from them.
What I didn’t like about Lemons and Lavender
I really don’t have anything negative to say about Lemons and Lavender other than I wish there was more of it! Now, don’t take that the wrong way because this book is 260 pages without the bibliography, so it is literally packed with greatness. It’s just when I finish a good book, I find myself wanting more…almost like there is some void that I feel compelled to fill. So instead of me waiting until the next installment comes out – and I soooo hope that there is one – I will be slowly integrating these new tips, ideas and recipes into my daily life.
